Welcome to the first Sew Noob series episode. With this series, aimed at beginners, I plan to demonstrate basic pattern drafting and garment construction techniques.
In this episode I will be drafting a basic skirt block or sloper.
Seams on toile closed with a closed plain seam.
* If you are completely new to pattern drafting, basic pattern blocks or slopers are foundation patterns that can be adapted into a variety of different designs, according to the style you would like to achieve.
BASIC SKIRT BLOCK CALCULATOR
To make the drafting process a bit less intimidating, I also included a basic skirt block calculator. Which means you can focus more on drafting your pattern and less on the calculations needed to complete your block.
* Any future improvements will be updated on the calculator.

In this Sew Noob episode I continue to alter the fit of the basic skirt block, which I drafted in the previous episode. I also transfer the final pattern onto cardboard, for prolonged and frequent use.
